Background
Roots is a deeply personal photography series that explores the lives of Third Culture Kids (TCKs)—individuals who grow up navigating multiple cultures, often feeling a sense of belonging everywhere and nowhere at once.
Challenge & Limitation
The challenge was to capture the emotional complexity of Third Culture Kids—their search for identity, connection, and home—while designing a system that supports the photography without drawing attention away from it.
Solution
I used intimate, story-driven portraits to reflect each subject’s layered experience. The design stayed minimal—soft typography, open space—to let the images speak. Together, they create a quiet but powerful narrative about belonging in-between.
